You are phenomenal. I mean that literally: you're as unpredictable and as delightful as the Northern Lights or a double rainbow or a winning lottery ticket. We never know what you'll do next and it's always worth waiting for, and this subway adventure is a perfect example. Glorious and profound and lunatic in equal quantities.

Here's to the next 9 billion readers!

I meant to write a comment saying how I am in awe of Anne's courage, determination, and sheer crazy imagination and sense of humor, but you said it SO much better, Mike!

If Eric Adams resigns, I think this adventure qualifies you to be the next mayor

LOL so funny Maria! I would LOVE to be Mayor if it just meant eating churros and watching buskers play.

You would definitely have to pay for your own churros, though. Nothing "on the house." 😉

The part of this incredible adventure that I found most shocking and difficult to imagine myself ever doing was the moment when you brushed your teeth in a subway bathroom. Congratulations, Anne! You survived and this read like a thriller from start to finish

Wow if brushing my teeth in the subway bathroom was all it took, I'd have done this sooner, Mr. Duffy!

Thanks for your kind words!

Outstanding again as usual!!

A few key comments (take notes):

1 - you can extend your readership to the folks on Mars, or still in space stations around the universe (just a thought).

2 - the most courageous thing you did during your 24 hour odyssey was the sitting on the floor. I think your 9 billion readers will be blown away by that.

THANK YOU again for brightening my Monday!

Mordy, I have long wanted to take CAFE ANNE on the road and visit some small towns, but never thought about taking it around the solar system. Great idea!

I am an inveterate floor sitter, btw, no matter what the situation. It saves me hours of discomfort.

Glad you enjoyed the story!!!

Awww thanks Mr. Jensen. I hope our travels bring us together some day, though I seldom get more than a two-hour train ride from NYC.

I've been to NYC sooooooooo many times but I know we'll be back!

It would get crowded, Mr Jensen! Perhaps #AnneKadet could run a lottery for the privilege?

You’re crazy and amazing. A set of amazing snapshots of life. Next time, get some solid sleep before you attempt something like this eh? But such a cool read. I’m so upset that there was no decent food for you! Although the churros looks yummy. And then the end bit - ‘what hit me was how alone they seemed. And thinking what it must feel like to be that lonely and disconnected, I cried and cried.’ Ah Anne. You wonderful soul. Thank you so much for a fascinating, vibrant, crazy read. Sending heaps of hugs and best wishes. 🤗🤗💕

So funny you think there may be a next time for something like this Beth. Although yes, there probably will be.

You know what was actually not bad was the 6:30 am Dunkin Sourdough breakfast sandwich though I suppose at the time I ate it a rubber egg would have probably tasted quite delicious.

Very glad you enjoyed the story and thank you for your kind words as always!

‘What struck me most was all the people I saw sleeping on the train and platforms. It wasn't their material condition that gave me pause. No, what hit me was how alone they seemed. And thinking what it must feel like to be that lonely and disconnected, I cried and cried.’ Amazing again Beth T. I had copied the words maybe to use and you beat me to it. The reference to feet also caught me. And Anne, when you read this, congrats for three years. Another great post for your 1st annual ‘Cafe Anne New York Bedside Companion’ when it comes. I have the cover already made up. Remember? Perhaps you should share it and take a readers’ poll? 🐰

This installment was priceless, Anne. I was wondering, since you spent so many hours in moving train cars, when it was over did you have any sense of - I don't know what to call it apart from seasickness? Any sense of being in motion after the motion had stopped, especially when you got in bed?

Gosh I have no idea what I'll do next, Emily. As I think you know I've been wanting to do that subway thing for years and is there anything more like that rattling around in my brain? I mean, that only costs $2.90?

Very glad you enjoyed the story and thanks for the congrats! It's been a very fun three years.

First Café Anne issue I am reading as a "former New-Yorker". Funny how it has a different vibe now even though it's been like two weeks 😂 Without a doubt you're going to be my closest regular connection to the city, which super-nice for so many reasons! Thank you! It was a good reminder of how much I love the place and how satisfied I am to have finally departed! PS: You really should have done this on a weekend!

Maria it is true i should have done it on the weekend. But then there's the catch—I'd have been working on the weekend which as you know I really try to avoid.
