"Who’s the artist?

We really don’t want to talk about that because we don’t want him being stolen from us."

its because it's AI.

Anne Kadet's avatar

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't break my heart Steve not true not true not true!!!!

Amac's avatar

The only thing funnier than him being unwilling to say it is AI is if he really believes it’s some banksy secret artist and his staff is using AI all over the place without telling him.

Anne Kadet's avatar

Ok, ok, ok. I will look into this...

Justin Difazzio's avatar

I thought the same thing, Steve.

Anne Kadet's avatar

nooooooooo

ANNE!!! I have literally sat on the subway wishing YOU would interview this guy! This is GOLD.

Anne Kadet's avatar

Great minds, Laura!

The Bull seems like a true NYC character. That view from his office is mouth dropping. Very interesting interview, Anne. We miss you!

Anne Kadet's avatar

He is absolutely the real deal, Justin. WYSIWYG, and more! Glad you enjoyed the Q&A. And I am looking forward to resuming my weekly publishing schedule (or something close to it) in September.

“Anything in your face mask, you own!” Is this the best advice ever?! I think it might be

Anne Kadet's avatar

Haha can't say I've heard better, Tina!

This one was well worth the wait! Saul Goodman has nothing on the Bull. Suing your Bentley repair shop is next level. I was a little surprised to learn that babies wear panties, and tie dye ones at that. Looking forward to whichever of NYC’s inimitable cast of characters you visit with next!

Anne Kadet's avatar

May we all sue our Bentley repair shops, Rob!

Loved everything about this interview -- the lead-up, persistence, the art, and the payoff -- a great picture of a true character. I also loved getting a look at the stories you're doing for Curbed. I wish I could help with the dress but after taking a look around on the web, I realized that I was no good at this. I, too, hate shopping. I wish you luck!

Elizabeth Marro's avatar

I did see this one too, on Lands End but I'm guessing you saw it and rejected it: https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-cotton-jersey-notch-neck-dress/id_389986?attributes=55616,44967,46269

Anne Kadet's avatar

That is my original dress, Elizabeth. And the weird thing is, if I go on the site and search for it myself it does not show up! But I'm glad you and some others found it for me.

Michele Linehan's avatar

Miss you, Anne! Great article...as always.

Anne Kadet's avatar

Thank you Michele! And I'll be publishing more frequently again soon!

Eat the Cinnabons. We the readers will underwrite the cost of your Metformin.

Anne Kadet's avatar

They should offer a Cinnabon/Metformin package, Terry!

Terry Cook's avatar

Metformin coffee, great drink concept.

Push Pull Carry's avatar

Oh Anne, SO good to see you here again!

Anne Kadet's avatar

It is good to be back, PPC. Even just here and there. But the situation is helping me appreciate everything a bit more than I had been.

Push Pull Carry's avatar

Also, I just found this STEAL of a dress for . . . $10! : https://tulipclothing.com/products/l153-garrison-dress-in-black

Anne Kadet's avatar

That is cute dress! And at that price, I could don a new, clean dress three times a day!

Anne Kadet's avatar

Well, this DOES look sort of perfect. Thank you Maria!

Maria DeVoto's avatar

Perfect except twice as expensive, but I guess that’s inflation and prices going up over the past couple years 😢

Megan A Arnold's avatar

Yay for a Cafe Anne, and such a fun one!!! That must have been a hoot to finally chat with him!

Oh, I feel your pain about one of your uniforms being discontinued! I also hate shopping, and so try to stock up when I find something I like, but sometimes I don't know right off if it's a keeper and then by the time I figure that out it's not available anymore, boo. Hope you're able to find a replacement!

Anne Kadet's avatar

Thank you for feeling my pain, Megan. I often think I've gone to insane lengths buying duplicates. But when it comes to an item that really works, I ALWAYS find myself wishing I'd bought more.

Amac's avatar

Have you ever bought multiples of something that you then hated? I feel like that’s what had happened when I am at a thrift store and there are 12 of some random jacket in different colors

Anne Kadet's avatar

Yes, that's the downside, Amac. It's happened a few times. And then I have seven identical dresses I can't bear to wear And no explaiation for why I suddenly feel that way. It's impossible to predict!

KL's avatar

I was down about this lately regarding a sweater I love that was discontinued...and then I discovered poshmark. I now have it in blue and black! this is both exciting and a little dangerous.

David Roberts's avatar

The Bull has great charisma!

Anne Kadet's avatar

Yes! Humility is cool, but I do loves me some braggadocio, David!

Claire Akkan's avatar

1) Absolutely loved this interview, what a NYC character

2) those people in Gramercy are nuts not to take the offer to move two doors down!

Anne Kadet's avatar

Thank you Claire! As for the Annie Grossman story, there were some deets I had to leave out that make her quaundry sound a little less nutty. I do expect she'll take the offer in the end.

Brittany Rose's avatar

I think you should suprise everyone enterain a navy outfit. Any chance of such an outlandish concept?

Anne Kadet's avatar

True story, Brittany: maybe eight years ago I decided to adopt a navy uniform. Because I really look much better in navy than in black, it's a skin-tone thing. I got six navy blue dresses from Lands' End I think. And I put one on and wore it for a day. It was...mortifying. Can't say why! So I returned them all.

Chuck Flacks's avatar

First, I have no relation to another of your readers, Steve Flack. Huh! Second, I love the Bull story. He's a classic New Yorker, brash, off-putting, fierce, and a real softie. I'm inspired!

Anne Kadet's avatar

Thank you for the clarification, Chuck. And so glad you enjoyed the Bull interview. I love him for the same reasons you do!
